Within this first volume, Georgia Dorey examines the form, pattern, and texture found in the prints of Utagawa Kunisada; creates a family of ‘soft sculptures’ in playful dialogue with the ceramic artworks of Miwa Neishi; explores the exchange of textiles in the 19th century, via a garment in the archive of The Museum at FIT, using delicate hand-coloured papers; revisits her enduring passion for the Furoshiki with two hand-printed wrapping cloths responding to the designs and form of the ancient donabe dish; and develops a collection of paper weavings inspired by the meditative teaching of the SAORI weaving method.

Makers and Made invites the reader on a pilgrimage to observe similarities, celebrate differences, and create dialogues between the 'makers' and the 'made' in America.

Please, enjoy.
